This is where all my free desires end, all my impulses without a precise goal.
Often the origin of a series. All that I don’t include in a process but rather comes from impulses, from desires to talk about forms. A mixture of the organic, the animal and the decorative, whose sole purpose has been to set down on paper a whim, an obsession, a reflex.
I hope you’ll enjoy discovering these subjects without subject, at least as much as I enjoyed making them.
Mola Mola
64 x 44 x 0.1 cm
Ink on 120gr. paper
One of my earliest creations and also one of my favorites. A clear, unmistakable silhouette in profile, a subject with an already special original shape. This imposing animal, calm and majestic, moves slowly. I like its fixed, monolithic appearance, perhaps more akin to a building than an organic structure.
5 Robin On A Branch
9 x 49 x 0.1 cm
Watercolor on 300g. Hahnemühle paper
I responded immediately. 4 to 5 vivid, sketch-like passages of watercolor, motivated by the desire to draw this little beast and its contrast with the red spot.
Blue Whale
52 x 27 x 0.1 cm
Ink on Kraft Paper
A quick and very jettisoned execution, a little ink and charcoal, in profile, a view I particularly appreciate.
Kingfisher 1
17,5 x 27 x 0.1 cm
Ink on 300gr. Paper
One of my first watercolors in a while. When I let the last of this kingfisher dry, I decided to start a series on bird profiles, “BirdSides”.
Blue Tit
11 x 10 x 0.1 cm
Watercolor on 300g. paper.
A rapid execution, with very few passages, for a little bird very familiar to Occidentals
Desert
21 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm
Watercolor on 300g. Hahnemühle paper.
A supposed sketch, which expanded into an assertive drawing. I like scenery a lot, I don’t do enough of it. This one started with a trigger that became more complex during the making of it.
Sleeping Koala
21 x 29.7 x 0.1 cm
Ink and Watercolor on 80gr. paper.
I had a time during which I explored the Koala, its hands, its poses…Here an Indian ink technique enhanced by a very dry watercolor.
Sloth Head
88 x 42 x 0.3 cm
Ink on Cardboard
A long neck surmounted by a small head with drawn fur, I love this view of the sloth, a carpet of coarse hair that fades to reveal a permanent smile.
Flowers
59 x 21 x 0.1 cm
Ink and Watercolor on 300gr. Paper
A sloppy hand on paper. Executed while I was on vacation, this set of non-existent flowers motivated me to repeat the exercise and develop a series: Plants From Out There
Bear Side Sketch
21 x 29,7 x 0.1 cm
Ink on 80gr. Paper
A lively, solemn and somewhat melancholy sketch, drawn from a period of work centered on the bear.
