Fullframe

Fullframe is a nfresh born series with a concept akin to anatomical or botanical study plates, only more graphic.

An exhaustive graphic journey to the heart of an animal or plant species.

Gibbons Board

38 x 48 x 0.1 cm

Ink and Watercolor on 300g. Hahnemühle paper.

The largest format in this small series. I love the long, gangly silhouette of the gibbons. It’s clear, obvious and, what’s more, very dark or very light. The almost aquatic way it moves through the trees, a sort of giant spider sweeping its silhouette through the branches. Very long arms, hands and fingers. A little head and a little face hidden up there at the top of those hairs.
All these little details motivated me to honor the species on a board.

House Sparrow Board

40 x 09 x 0.1 cm

Ink and Watercolor on 300g. Hahnemühle paper.

There are the animals and plants that are far away and that I may only ever see in photos or videos, and there are those that are right next to me. I’ve lived in Western Europe since I was born, and the sparrow has always been part of the scenery. A small, earth-colored animal, curious and reckless, its shape and song are inseparable from my surroundings.
It’s nice to dig a little deeper into this lifelong companion and try to give him some letters of nobility. At last, I can really look deeply into this little friend that my eyes (and ears) know so well. Birds have a special place in my fantasies, and non-anthropomorphic forms appeal to me because they have had their own way of adapting to an environment with specific constraints. I love feathers, beaks and legs, and above all I like to put the viewer’s nose into them in a format teeming with detail.
